Program Description:
Fraud is ever-present in our world, but uncovering it is not always straightforward. Auditors can help. In this session, you will learn a practical approach to incorporating fraud risks into the planning stage of an audit. We will discuss what the standards require, potential steps to take within an audit, the types of questions an auditor can ask to help uncover fraud, and what the non-auditor can do to help.
About the speaker
Keith Salas has been with the City of Austin's Office of the City Auditor for almost 5 years, most of that time in the City Auditor's Integrity Unit, which conducts investigations of fraud, waste, and abuse. He holds degrees in economics and public affairs and is a CFE and CGAP. He's really excited to speak to the Austin Chapter of the ACFE.

1) determine potential fraud risks for various audit topics.
2) develop potential steps to take within a given audit to better identify fraud.
3) craft targeted questions to better uncover potential fraud.

Cancellation Policy and No Shows
If you have registered and/or paid for an event and you need to cancel, you MUST email info@austinacfe.com no later than 5 days prior to the event, unless otherwise indicated in specific event policies, to request a refund and/or cancel your registration. The Chapter must confirm event registrations with the venue within 5 days of the event and any changes after this time period can become a financial cost to the Chapter. Cancellations received less than 5 days prior to events will not be refunded except for exigent circumstances.
In the event an attendee does not show up to the event, the registration cost will be forfeited. If payment at the door was the selected method, then the attendee will be billed for the full cost of the event. The Chapter reserves the right to bar for future registration any attendees who routinely register and fail to pay and/or attend the event.
